Registration & Policies
Harvard Division of Continuing Education Professional Development programs are noncredit. Register early to reserve a spot, as space is limited.
To register, choose a program and visit the specific program’s webpage.
Early bird tuition
Tuition is $1,800 for 2-day programs and $2,700 for 3-day programs if you register by:
- February 26 for March 2012 programs
- June 3 for June 2012 programs
- July 29 for August 2012 programs
Regular tuition
After the above deadlines, tuition is $2,100 for 2-day programs and $3,000 for 3-day programs.
Payment
Full payment is due when you register. Visa, MasterCard, and American Express are accepted.
Tuition covers:
- Instruction
- Program materials
- Lunch
- Coffee breaks
Prerequisites
Proficiency in written and spoken English is required for participation in all Professional Development programs. See individual program pages for specific prerequisites.
Certification
You receive a certificate of participation upon completion. Grades are not assigned, and the programs do not count toward a degree. Professional Development programs do not appear on official Division of Continuing Education transcripts.
International participants
According to US State Department guidelines, visitors may use the B-1 visa for brief stays, usually less than six months, to participate in scientific, educational, professional, or business conventions, conferences, or seminars or to undertake independent research. See the Harvard International Office’s B visa guidelines.
Consult the US embassy or consulate in your country to determine the appropriate visa category and necessary documentation. We recommend that you list “professional development” rather than “school” or “study” as your reason for coming to the United States.

Health insurance
You must be covered individually with comprehensive health insurance for major medical emergencies and hospitalization. Check with your organization’s health insurance carrier before your arrival to ensure that you have adequate coverage. Harvard Division of Continuing Education Professional Development is not responsible for medical fees incurred during your stay.
Tuition assistance
Harvard Division of Continuing Education Professional Development programs are not covered by Harvard’s Tuition Assistance Plan.
Registration cancellations
To cancel your registration, write to harvardprofdev@dcemail.harvard.edu or call (617) 998-8500.
You are assessed $300 a program if you cancel:
- After December 19 for the January programs
- After February 26 for the March programs
- After June 3 for the June programs
- After July 29 for the August programs
If you do not cancel and do not attend the program, you forfeit the tuition.
Program cancellations
Programs may be added or canceled. If a program is canceled, Professional Development will refund the program tuition in full but is not responsible for travel, accommodations, or other expenses incurred by the participant.
Refusal of registration
Harvard Division of Continuing Education may refuse registration to anyone who has been required to withdraw from another Harvard school or course.
The Harvard Division of Continuing Education (DCE) deals directly with individual participants. We do not work with agents, book groups of participants, or offer any commission or discount for doing so.
Any agency offering services to clients vis-a-vis Harvard University may only serve to assist applicants in the process of completing registration forms, and may not in any way represent itself as an agency of Harvard University. All registrations and payments must come from the individual participants. DCE may refuse to accept any participants who are registered by an agency.
Nondiscrimination
Harvard Division of Continuing Education Professional Development does not discriminate against any person on the basis of race, color, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, age, national or ethnic origin, political beliefs, veteran status, or disability unrelated to job or course of study requirements in admission to, access to, treatment in, or employment in its programs and activities.
Program information and changes
Harvard Division of Continuing Education Professional Development reserves the right to make changes to the information printed in materials or on this website. Note that faculty biographies have been submitted by faculty.
Inclement weather cancellations
Professional Development programs are rarely canceled because of inclement weather. If they are canceled, a notice is posted on the homepage the day of cancellations. Participants are notified by e-mail.
