Sea Songs

Ann Lees

Walk beside the sea

waves break on the sun-baked beach

erasing footprints

Wind bending sea grass

seagulls gliding overhead

looking for dinner

Low tide uncovers

tidal pools with scrambling crabs

seagulls find a meal

Wind murmurs softly

caresses the restless sea

like a gentle hand

Solitary child

seeks unbroken shells on a

sandy crescent beach

Sunlit seaweed rocks

sea salt-permeated air

fish songs fill my heart
