Spring 1999 Harvard Extension School Registration

Spring-term registration begins Monday, December 7. Registration forms and lists of spring-term catalogue changes are being sent this month to all fall-term registrants. Students who do not receive this mailing by November 30 should call the Extension School Registrar's Office at (617) 495-9522 to request that another packet be sent. Spring-term classes begin Monday, February 1; registration ends Friday, February 5; late registration with a late fee is from Monday, February 8 through Friday, February 12.


1999 Harvard Summer School

Extension School students are invited to continue their studies next summer at the Harvard Summer School. Several hundred day and evening courses will be offered, many of which can be applied toward Extension School degrees and certificates. The 1999 Summer School session runs from June 28 through August 20. Registration ends on Wednesday, June 9. To request a Summer School catalogue, call (617) 496-5000; e-mail your request; or visit the Harvard Summer School website. Catalogues will be available in March 1999.


Fall-Term Grades Available Via DCE Tel

Beginning on Wednesday, February 3 fall-term students may call DCE Tel, the Division of Continuing Education Telephone Information System at (617) 496-1111, to hear their fall-term final grades. Students who are new to Extension this fall and have not yet received notification of their PIN (personal identification number) and students who have lost or forgotten their PIN should call (617) 495-9522.


Nominations for Extension Prizes

Extension School students and alumni are invited to send nominations for the Bonanno, Conway, Shattuck, and Fussa Teaching Awards to Dean Michael Shinagel, 51 Brattle Street, Cambridge, MA 02138-3722 before May 1, 1999.


Bards and Minstrels Return to Loker Commons

Following their dazzling debut in April at Loker Commons Coffee House in the lower level of Memorial Hall, Harvard Extension School staff and students will offer new poetry, fiction, and music December 8-10 from 7 to 9 pm. Events are free and open to the University community; free refreshments will be served by the coffeehouse.


Tuesday, December 8--Poet's Corner

Expository writing faculty Daniel Bosch and Janet Sylvester, teaching assistant Tom Cole, and their students read from recent and award-winning poetry.


Wednesday, December 9--Fiction Fling

Creative writing instructors Maxine Rodburg, Ellen Cooney, and Dave London read from their latest works.


Thursday, December 10--Rock and Roll

Come hear Erich Groat, lead singer/songwriter of Baby Ray and Extension linguistics instructor, sing tunes from the band's new CD, Monkey-puzzle
