Five faculty members mark 25 years with Extension
At the annual Harvard Extension Alumni Association Banquet June 7, five faculty members will be honored for 25 years of service in the classroom. They are Dr. Ubaldo DiBenedetto, Dr. Arnold M. Howitt, Mr. Sanford Kaye, Dr. Thomas J.C. Raymond, and Dr. John B. Southard.
Alumni events
All alumni and students receiving degrees and certificates this year are invited to attend the Harvard Extension Alumni Association's Boston Harbor Cruise and Picnic May 14 (rain date: May 21) as well as the Alumni Banquet at Quincy House June 7. Details are available from degree and certificate offices.
Harvard Extension School 2005-06
Stay tuned for new programs and courses, including graduate degrees in journalism and technologies of education, in the 2005-06 school year, which begins Monday, September 19. The comprehensive '05-'06 Extension School website, online in early August, will feature course offerings, videos, registration information, and Extension news. The course catalogue will be available in August as well. Until then, refer to the current website for the academic calendar, financial aid information, and tuition ranges.
Lowell Lecture
Dr. James O. Freedman, president emeritus of Dartmouth College and author of several books on liberal arts education, will deliver the 2005 Lowell Lecture, Higher Education and Its Discontents, this October (specific date to be announced).
Harvard Summer School
June 27-August 19
The 2005 Harvard Summer School offers more than 200 campus and online courses, as well as study abroad options and a selection of new intensive four-week courses. Many Summer School courses can be applied toward Extension School degrees and certificates, including proseminars and lectures in such subjects as economics, management, writing, history, and mathematics for teaching.
Grossman Library closes during renovations this summer
Sever Hall is undergoing a major facelift this summer, and as a result the Grossman Library will be closed May 28 to September 19. The library's extensive thesis archives will be available to degree candidates during this time. Students may reserve theses via an online request form, then meet library staff at alternate campus locations to review materials. A list of thesis proposals and papers, as well as the online request form, is available via online services.
Spring term grades
Beginning Wednesday, June 8, students may view their final grades for the spring term via online services. Student ID numbers and PINs are required. Students may call (617) 495-0977 with questions.
